25 PROMISES FOR THE DOWN, DISCOURAGED

1. But you, O Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts my head high (Psalm 3:3).

2. The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
    a refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9).

3. Even when I walk
    through the dark valley of death,I will not be afraid,
    for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
    protect and comfort me (Psalm 23:4).

4. The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
    He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed (Psalm 34:17-18).

5. Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my savior and my God (Psalm 42:5).

6. From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety (Psalm 61:2).

7. Weeping may last through the night,
    but joy comes with the morning (Psalm 30:5).

8. I cling to you;
    your strong right hand holds me securely (Psalm 63:8).

9. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    he is mine forever (Psalm 73:26).

10. When I am overwhelmed,
    you alone know the way I should turn (Psalm 142:3a).

11. He heals the brokenhearted
    and bandages their wounds (Psalm 147:3).

12. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high onW ings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

13. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

14. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

15. The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

16. For the Lord your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
    With his love, he will calm all your fears.
    He will rejoice over you with joyful songs” (Zephaniah 3:17).

17. Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

18. “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (Jesus, John 16:33).

19. God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them (Romans 8:28).

20. Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us (Romans 8:37).

21. Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).

22. The source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

23. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

24. We never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! (2 Corinthians 4:16-17).

25. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
